Oh!, the sighs!

Oh!, the sighs!

A Poem by K. Carver
"

This one was inspired by one of my very best friends, Cayla Thornton.

"

I hear their sighs
the ones of the people
as they walk by
they sigh for you

your hair like fire
exquisite it is
your skin, perfect ivory
they sigh for you

eyes so beautiful
caramel brown
breathtaking
they sigh for you

as for me
your best friend
even me, i stop
and sigh for you

What I especially like, besides the reiterating line, "sigh for you" is that at the end you showed maybe his/her greatest beauty in that, even as the friend, someone used to being around her/him all the time, you still noticed the beauty.

That last sigh could have a different meaning of course. It could simply be an understanding of beauty or it could be a longing for a relationship deeper than friendship, depending of course on your intent. Either way, it was a lovely poem.

I really thought this was lovely..to just breath in the beauty of another and let it out in a sigh is so powerful and it AS IF EVERYONE sees this persons beauty as you do ..

This is quite original, with a theme which revolves around a single word. And yet, it can mean so much, when somebody uses it (or "sighs" in real-life). When I first saw the title, I wondered if this was just going to be a piece of erotic writing, so I'm glad that I continued reading, in order to appreciate the true content!

Your friend must be really pleased, that you have written such a fine homage to her. It is more sincere and touching perhaps, than a simple list of this person's strengths? Indeed, it seems as if quite some thought has been put into writing this tribute?

I find it ironic, that a sigh can also be an indication, that somebody is feeling exasperated or bored. Indeed, perhaps the writer has thought of exploring these meanings in another piece of poetry? Keep writing, my friend!

This poem was a really nice read. When I was reading it, I remembered the funeral of a friend and all I could do was give a sigh of mourning. I really liked it.
