Why did you leave?A Poem by Lotus TwilightDedicated to my motherI step in, The big wooden doors open into the hall, I expect you to run and hug me, But my heart knows you won't. I stand under the chandelier, Everything is the same, But it is not, Because you are not there. Tears meander down my cheeks, My heart searches in hopeless desperation, My mind flies back to that day, A month ago. Oh, we were having so much fun, But then came the abrupt full stop, My happiness and childhood came to a screeching halt, Along with our wrecked car on the highway. "Speak Mother! I know you will be alright!" Said I, to the corpse I once called 'mom,' Paying no heed to the bloodbath that surrounded, And my own punctured flesh. But then, you left me, Right in front of my clouded eyes, All alone in this world, What am I going to do? I am barely eighteen, Scared of this big, bad world, Curious about the mysteries that it camouflages, And confused about the roads I have to take. I miss your warm hug, I miss your reassuring words, I miss you, I miss myself. I am lost, My confidence was cremated along with you, "Will I find myself again?" Only you can answer, dear mom.
