Thoughts More Filling Than Dancing in the Dark

Thoughts More Filling Than Dancing in the Dark

A Poem by Paige
"

A Bruce inspired Ode maybe? Who knows

"

I find myself falling

Falling into the places I needed to be

I don’t need hands all over me

I don’t need warmth on the other side of the bed

I’m fine with the thoughts filling up my head

As I come to peace you yearn for war

The fight against your heart what’s down deep inside

I know your heart’s saying you’re ready, trust me it lied

If fire’s your brew underneath your belt

Heed this warning, you know how a real lover’s hands felt

Confidence comes easy for signs with daggers at their ends’ tip

You’re the devil’s advocate, he’s using your lips

Pull back inside your mind a while

Pull back inside

Pushing forward, you’re only setting up a defile

Maybe I’m silly

Crazy comes to mind

I think the right arrangement of words

Can heal the pains of any kind

Be it lover scorned or loved one lost

A creative tongue could mend the like

Provided the beautiful muse of love and inspiration

Showed her face tonight

Should love always make you a little weak in the knees or do we eventually become accustom to any situation over time? Passion vs. Monotony

You layered the words upon foundations of thought provoing metaphor. "Heed this warning, you know how a lover's hand felt". I like that this was not a spitful bite but a loving warning for the future without you in it.
Then you got more raw, "Pull back inside Pushing forward, you're only setting up defile" Your words leave no doubt as to your mindset.
This was a very good poem. I'm glad to have read it.
