Words

Words

A Poem by Patricia
"

relationship

"

I waited for the lifted moods

The crushing falls

The dull moments

Of empty thoughts

That for some reason

You found most important

And I found most impotent

Perhaps that was your

In to get out of

Whatever it was

That came before it

They were just words

Words, that in the end,

You threw around

Like dishes and bric-a-brac

Contemptuous pottery

And expletive stone wear

Words, jagged shrapnel

Of syllables and letters

That I merely swept up

And threw out in the trash

Words, that became

A broken language that

I understood all too well

But you never understood mine

Author's Note

Patricia
writing is still such an effort for me, so sorry I have been gone for so long. I haven't been really reading any poetry either unless it is directly sent to me, it confuses me as I work through this block. Others find inspiration through other's words but it just confuses me with the style and content and I didn't want to accidentally plagiarize... So, this is all I have for right now.

Keep on writing Patricia. Never let the self doubt linger in your mind. You are a writer, so write. Let the words just flow and become their intention. Sometimes we as writers hold back and are paralyzed by our art for many different reasons. Plagiarism is one fear. But it shouldn't stop you. There are a multitude of ways to say Love. Many are similar, but it's intention that truly matters and differentiates the art. A writer that I am fond of says that he takes Plagiarism of his work as a compliment. Because it gives his work meaning that his idea resonates in another and leads to some creativity. Great art inspires others. Sometimes unintentionally works may bear similar ideas. The importance is whether the message resonate. So keep on writing about everything and anything. Let your art find a home in the heart of your audience. Because it is in that same place we seek to touch the world.
