Sonnet 1

Sonnet 1

A Poem by tayla timpano
"

One of my sonnets from yr 9 that we had to write. My teacher said I accidently wrote an 'Upside down' sonnet and that it was unclear on who dies. What do you think? Also, do sonnets have to rhyme?

"
Days had turned to nights and nights into days
he never understood the way she felt,
the way she really felt; her heart hurting.

Until that one day without a seat belt
her stubborn mind, an unbelieving trap.
She was mad at the hand that fate had dealt
he was too smart to let something like that,
take away what he could have done with life.

She drove to where it happened and she sat,
it was too late, the pain cut her like knives.
Wishing she had told him how much he means,
now he would never know how much she cared.
In a bright light he is gone, and she dreams,
of the time when she wished she wasn't scared.

An old fashion flow and structure that brings a romantic feeling with out having to say it aloud.

Interesting take on the sonnet form. I like it, sonnet traditionalist might be rolling over in their graves but for someone as experimental, emphasis on the MENTAL, I like it!
