The Sunrise

The Sunrise

A Poem by Nicola Bentley
"

A poem for my partner - a photographer.

"

I wake alone

The room is empty and I know

That he is gone

Gone to meet another as she rises

And she fills his world with light

I cannot fight

Her beauty fleeting

As she banishes the night

He waits alone

As his mistress gives her gift

Sometimes unwilling,

then she yields

He finds his rapture

The perfect capture

And she is gone……

I wake alone

But willingly I share him with another

She is his lover

Her beauty feeds him

She makes him whole

Completes his soul

She is the Dawn.
