Kitchens

A Poem by Lisasview
"

Special new structure for me Acrostic. Such fun to do.

"

                                      KITCHENS

Knick knacks … signs of a special cook.

Itemised list tacked on each hook.

Timers in all sorts of colors,

Choosing one that was her mother's.

Homey smells waif through each small room.

                       Every item is an heirloom.

                       Never to forget her sweet smile;

Simple things were always her style.

You cooked up a fine acrostic Lisa. Read like baking bread smells ... delightful! I'd rather have a meal cooked in this homey kitchen than a sterile stainless steel studio full of culinary contraptions devoid of heirlooms. I hear the dinner bell ringing ... there in Spain!

I just read your poem "Kitchen" and I was truly touched by the beautiful and evocative imagery that you've created. The way that you describe the various items in the kitchen and the memories that they evoke is so vivid and heartfelt. I especially loved the line "Simple things were always her style" - it's such a poignant reminder that sometimes the most meaningful things in life are the simplest.
Your poem is a wonderful tribute to the special cook in your life, and it's clear that you have a deep appreciation for the love and care that she puts into everything she does. Your use of rhyme and meter is also very effective, and it gives the poem a lovely rhythm that adds to its overall charm.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful words with the world - I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.

Now that sounds like a great idea...

This is a very good use of end rhymes: no skewed syntax, everything naturally readable and on point with the message.

All creative things are art..and I not only love to paint and write but I LOVE to cook..
Lisa
i often think of others when i cook. a great time to reflect and feel close to those we love. it feels as though memories of them are "baked" into the food as do your touching words. i can smell the sweet now ... :)

Fantastic, nicely done little Acrostic poem Lisa. This reminds me of my mother's kitchen, always one of the best places in the house.

acrostics are fun to compose.
I really like the picture accompanying the poem.
reminds me of our old kitchen...and that phone...ah yes, just like in my house now...the good old landline. I have a kitchen...I have NO cell phone...I am a dinosaur, I know.
And I still prefer simple things, they are my style as well.
