Miles Apart

Miles Apart

A Poem by Lisasview
"

I wrote this poem when I was in my early 20's...In the 70's... Just a few things were changed, with the help of Richard. Rhyming Quatrains and Couplet

"

          Miles Apart....

              Separated by miles
              that keep us apart,
              my heart's
              still holding yours.

              Our love
              lingers-on,
              like the delicate web
              of an evil spider;
              the spider, but a toy
              between us.

              Air hangs heavy
              between our hearts;
              still, longing for
              more time together.

              Yet,
              when I sit alone
              thinking of you,
              your tenderness
              surrounds me
                ... even now.

                 ~~~
The warmth and spirit of a loved one remains with us even after they are long departed. We may not feel their touch any longer but as long as they remain alive in our memory the miles seem just that bit closer. It's a sad piece with your loss, love and acceptance of it here for all to read. Touching poem, Lisa. ⚘
Thank you Lisa for sharing this beautiful piece. I'm not very good at reviewing,but this is so beautiful, and mirrors a very similar situation in my own life, and brings back, though sad, beautiful memories of those days.
Thank you my friend 😊
Take care
Good afternoon, Lisa.
It’s nice to read one of yours that I haven’t read before. It’s interesting how our love poetry changes as we age. This one speaks so well of love and longing in one’s tender, optimistic twenties, I think. It’s always a pleasure to read your work.
Hey Lisa, that's a beautiful piece depicting how love is not bound by any distance or hiccups and how even the memories of your loved one keep your heart warm. I enjoyed reading it 😊
Nothing is a barrier in true love.... separation, distance... love lives on. I sense a longing here and an acceptance of same.... how the heart is stubborn that way to transcend through time holding on to that tenderness... Beautiful writing.
A nice presentation of longing with a turn in the last stanza, almost on the lines of a sonnet. Curiously enough, if you scrap the second stanza you end up with 14 lines, sonnet length, and the turn occurs perfectly at line 9, "Yet". A pleasant read, thank you.
Your poem is immensely beautiful.
It is said that it's not goodbye that hurts but the flashback that follows, but then sometimes that flashback ,those memories might give you the warmth and tenderness while wondering alone.
Indeed great piece of art.
Distance can make or break a relationship. Separation can indeed hang heavy. Seems like the author is carrying a torch for this love even though it may not have worked out. Lingering romance detected. Lovely work Lisa. I can see this is an early write from many years ago that Richard has helped you to refine.
