The New Storm

The New Storm

A Poem by Georgia

It was all too much to handle,
The truth and lie divide.
It was never meant to hurt you,
Or the brightness left inside.

It was never meant to end like this,
Just simply slip away.
Not supposed to force a battle on us,
Each and every day.

It got too out of hand it seemed,
These walls were caving in.
Not strong enough to hold them back,
So how could we ever win?

The fire burned through everything,
To be washed away by rain.
There’s nothing left to save this time,
All destroyed in a single flame.

Once again the storm is over,
But there’s no sun to be found.
Just a memory here of what used to be,
Is echoing all around.

We can’t reverse what happened here,
Can’t even start anew.
It’s damaged too much to fix this time,
Thanks to me and you.

I wish it didn’t end this way,
This is the final page.
The only thing that’s left untouched,
Are the memories that we made.
