Excuse Me Sir

Excuse Me Sir

A Poem by Georgia

Excuse me sir,
Can you answer me this?
How it changed so much from a lifetime of bliss?
When perception was clear and bold and bright,
Yet all the days changed to an endless night?

Excuse me sir,
How did it go wrong?
It was hope and wishes and a fairytale song.
The playful laughter of a child with dreams,
That turned into nightmares and ripped at the seams.

Excuse me sir,
Could I find a way back?
I don’t like the weight of the devil on my back.
There was more for me there in the innocent mind,
I was dragged far away and I left it behind.

Excuse me sir,
What happened here?
I see the twisted words and the fear.
I see the rain and it’s beginning to pour,
Nothing like this would happen before.

Excuse me sir,
Can I pray to you?
Will you change the past and the future, too?
If we could eliminate all the hurt and the pain,
Could these murky memories be wiped from my brain?
