The Great Lie

The Great Lie

A Poem by Georgia

Rivers flowing down the hills,
The sunshine in the sky.
The birds cheeping all around,
Kites are flying high.

Such a happy place it is,
No sadness anywhere…
Only colours of great joy again,
Makes you stop and stare.

Flowers blooming all around,
The pretty colours fill your eyes.
And butterflies flap around,
With bees and dragonflies.

In the distance is a castle,
A pretty pink and blue.
And all the doors and windows,
They all look clean and new.

Beyond this fairy-tale-like place,
Is the truth that darkens the sky.
For all the colours and scenes and dreams,
Are the centre of one big lie.

A world beyond your fears and threats,
A made up land she shows.
Deep within the castle, the moat,
And the place where the last wind blows.

Underneath there is hidden sadness,
The inside's where it's locked.
All the colours are turned to grey,
Whenever the switch gets knocked.

The real world is then revealed,
Where the river cries it's song.
The river made from all the tears,
Is where it will belong.

The flowers die, the clouds gather,
As the rain begins to pour.
The sun is hidden and one more piece,
Is taken from the core.
