Winter or summer?

Winter or summer?

A Poem by outspoken1234
"

This is from a groundhogs point of view

"
A groundhog pokes his head out and hears a sound
Is it a bird?
Is it a bee?
Perhaps its a growing seed?
He looks around about him
Thinking to himself oh it must only be me
Glancing at May's soft falling snow
He realizes he already knows what he needs to know
Turning around he goes to his den
He settles in for a sleepy day and waits
For the snow to go away

Being a lifetime Californian, it's hard to imagine snow in May! We barely notice groundhog day, as we're already in the 80*s most times in February around here. That's why it's a special pleasure to read your poem & see things from a different slant. I love the way you've personified Mr. Groundhog & conveyed his POV: "He realizes he already knows what he needs to know" (love this!) Very subtle & affectionate in tone.

Here in Michigan. We never know when Spring is coming. We just hope, ASAP. Great poem for the seasons. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
