A Poem by MandarinOranges

there's a

sad

hint of...

despair?

loss, prehaps?

maybe pain even?

behind every smile now.

real or forced, it matters not.

everything has so thusly been tainted -by you.

all that you and i may have had

all that may have been- good

not gone, just irrelevant .

you're still here, as am i

existing together

closer than ever

and still,

never

have we

been

further apart.

That wall that builds in a relationship that was once effortless and natural can make or break it. My husband and I have knocked down several walls in the course of our marriage, and will most probably do so again. I guess the trick is to know when to hold them and when to fold them.... i do think society goes thru relationships these days like a rotating door.....enough of my philosophy! great piece and if it is based on your personal experience, quite cathartic to write those feelings on paper, isn't it?

AAh, I hate that feeling...someone will have to reach out..the longer you wait
the harder it gets to do so.
really fine poem!!
