Realization

Realization

A Poem by MandarinOranges

sitting on the outside

peering in,

i find the reality of the situation

to hilarious to bare.

the desperation

felt in needing you,

not real.

the depression

felt from not having you,

laughable.

sitting on the outside,

looking back at me,

a sad little girl is all i see.

If I saw a sad little girl looking back at me, I think I would have bigger issues than I do now (but I guess I should not speak so soon, it can always get worse). This work does have that stark realization of one of those epiphanies that many of us probably wish we could do without having had, because it puts us in the position of having to piss or get off the pot. Or so we would think... no, it is perfectly possible to realize just where we are - and then - completely forget it, caught up in some moment of either a false promise or our own simple delusion. This work offers us a simple pain, that not many can understand - but for those that do, it has the feeling of being kicked in the gut as we lay in a fetal position - the one kicking us, alternating between mad giggles and finger wagging...

A very sad realization! How many of us have come to the same conclusion at some point in our lives and for some sort of situation? How many have taken the step to change once the realization set in?
