Love to Hate You

Love to Hate You

A Poem by MandarinOranges
"

I think the title says it all

"

I love to hate you

now that I know

I really am nothing

in your beautiful brown eyes.

I love to hate you

for it makes me feel

just a smidge bit better

pretending I really am okay.

I love to hate you

for stringing my mind along,

to it's final brittle string,

letting go without a second thought

and watching me snap.

I love to hate you

and try to make you jealous,

loving other nameless men,

wishing they could be you.

I love to hate you

while I'm nailing the lid shut

on my all to naive and broken heart,

resinged to give up forever

on this foolish game called love.

I love to hate you

while hidden beneath this strong facade

my soul lies, defeated and lost,

hating that I really do love you.

Okay, so now that my right eye is quivering a bit too and the taste of salt is pretty bad... even though I could sense what was coming here... it did not stop the dry swallow nor the release of acid in my stomach.

There are different levels of, pain. People have different tolerances for, pain.

This is a different level that tests one's tolerance.

A good write here encompassing the hidden feelings we fight when we really love someone and they don't care. A refex action to proctect our heart, our body and to keep a sense of pride, but the soul always knows the truth.

Simply told, nothing over the top and an honest look at the situation.

Well done.

Cheers

You have presented such a fresh approach to a story line many poets know all to well.

The pace and rhythm of the piece is perfect. The ending sneaks up on the reader and a whispered sigh is heard around the world.

Exceptional write

Now there's a poem to witch I'm sure many of us can relate to :) . The simple manor in witch you wrote it makes the message easy to grasp, and the repetition of the verb ,,I hate you,, reflects the power and intensity of the feeling.

And the ending in perfect :).

*****Poem.
