I would tend to say Love is complimentary, not perfect. Only God is perfect. Perfect means nothing added to & nothing taken from. But great job on it..
To be honest, I am not accustomed to reviewing "love poetry" because it often results as a generic spin on this emotion. Perhaps, love can be described as perfection, but it only exists in the perception. Within the poem, you have approached a philosophical question as to how to define love. However, in my own interpretation, it cannot be defined by a simplistic and singular definition. I apologize if I sound as though I am preaching, but it is the honest feelings that arise from after reading your poem. In a sense, I do not feel as though the poem approaches every category of love which I would include: romantic love, family love, and friendship love. I also do not feel it has challenged the reality of love, but it did capture the "butterflies-in-my-stomach" feeling. The most appealing line that I found was "that my friend is perfection." From the way I have interpreted it, I feel as though you would consider the love partner as a friend. I would agree that love is a deep friendship with the person you are in a relationship with or classified without a label.
Overall, I thought some aspects of the poem were genuine especially since you have expressed your emotion. Also, I hope I do not sounds so harsh with criticisms. I appreciate your optimistic view on love, and optimists are welcome:D
Cute. Your one of many I know who try to describe "love". I like your definition. I especially like the ending "Here is my heart and a key, save it and lock it up" And keep it to themselves
