The child inside

The child inside

A Poem by oursong2

Drawing with crayons

Painting with our hands

Smiling with our hearts

Living from the start

One step at a time

One smile

One cry

One look at the ground

One look at the sky

Our eyes are open

Our eyes are wide

May we never lose

This child inside

When things are lost

When things are broken

The kid in us all

May be spoken

As lines in the sand

Or cups stacked hi

Climbing a tree to touch the sky

Strapping wings to our backs

As if we could fly

For if we are sad

If we are down

May the child in us all

Finally be found

We can only hope. Sometimes that poor kid is crushed, shackled, and caged by the worries of reality. May that spark never leave our eyes. Nice job.
