on the roofA Poem by Elaina Ashlockthis is taken from a story I wrote when I had fallen in love with my best friend, before we fell apart. it hurt at first, but now it's a little numb.the only thing you've ever loved more than me
was the moon. you always sit on the roof and tell her your fears. one day I met you on the roof, and I told you to tell me the secrets of the stars. you were surprised to see me, yet you told me you loved me as much as the galaxies. and you said if the whole sky fell tonight we'd be okay. because we laid there as the 5 am air blew in and when 5 turned to 6 you took my hand. and as if the wind were whispering in your ear I told you I'd love you forever, I'd love you more than the sun and the moon. our love was as pink and purple as the clouds in the sky I wanted to reach out and give one to you. © 2017 Elaina AshlockAuthor's Note
