Cold War

Cold War

A Poem by otterbe
"

this is about losing love and communication

"

Killing each other

slowly,

completely,

with harsh words that

come and stand like giant

icebergs in the frozen

terrain of love lost.

Pride gone.

Soul numb.

Reaching out only

to pull back

as the iced surface

that used to be your face

glares white blue frost

at my outreached smile

Standing alone

mute with despair.

Yearning to hold you

just once,

to unthaw the

vast stretches of

hostility we

hold between us.

I reach.

You push away

any possibility

of reconciliation.

Cold war won.

Our love died

in the frost.
