It only takes a second

It only takes a second

A Story by otaku-chan

It only takes a second to break a heart.
Try it and count the milliseconds.
Feel the love that once reigned forever dashed at the cliffs of hate.

It only takes a minute to break a persons soul.
Seconds ticking, forever going past the point, to right the wrong you've made.
It takes longer than the time to break a heart, but it's only a fifty-nine tick of the heart difference.

It takes an hour to crush a person's life.
Time it and see.
Take every inch of personality and throw it back in their face, in everyone's face.
Darkest secrets, imperfections, and shadows in their heart shown to the world, forever unforgotten.

It takes a day to change a life, a small act soon forgotten.
Carry in their heart until no more can take, and choices soon are made.

It takes a week to fall in love, to learn and truly fall.
Love abounding, hearts are pounding.
Hide a secret romance.

It takes a month to marry love.
A love lawfully taken.
Bring love home and hang it on a shelf.
Stay in love, dream and hope and yearn.
A month seems way too short.

It takes a year to make a love, give or take some time.
An angel beauty, in perfection made, born of loving hearts.
Love that child as ones self, and hope you raise them right.

It takes a lifetime to build up trust, supposedly unearned, given.
It only takes a second to break that trust, a downward spiral made.
Dream of a time where trust lasts forever, the only thing of counting time.
Where seconds, minutes, hours, months, and years never have to exist.
Live by the beating of a heart, and where it's breakage never happens.
Hope for a day where love reigns supreme and it's power never challenged.
