Painted Face

Painted Face

A Poem by Sincerely Yours

Lets get down

To the heart

Of the matter

Fear takes grip

And constricts

Can’t breathe can’t speak

Conformed and precise

Dare me to laugh

Keep me from holding back

Don’t know this

Person in the mirror

With her painted face

This all just a show

For others to see

Afraid to show the real me

Return, oh sense of self

I miss you

Let’s get back in the real world

This poem is so relatable. I think that most of tend to lose ourselves as we get older. Nice write :)
