BACON SANDWICH

BACON SANDWICH

A Poem by R J Askew

Brown sauce, big mug, weak tea

Chew, chew, chew, your way through

A life where little rhymes

Wipe your lips, sip your sips

Say cheese when camera clicks

Listen as your life ticks

A way through rusting ricks

Let others play steal tricks

Chew, chew, chew your way through

A life where little chymes

Sip your sips, wipe your lips

Leave cafe -- deary, cheery, bleary me

                  -- deary, cheery, bleary me

have you been watching 'Enders again? Is this is scene from Phill's Caff or is it Ian's or Babs?

I always feel sorry for the pig in all this - no-one ever considers the big fat porker who was quite happily rolling in his own shite before being butchered to death and ending up on a plate between two chunks of real man's bread.

there's a definitive Englishness about this. great stuff

Was it a Genesis song that went something like "holding on in quiet desperation is the English way" this is the sentiment I get from the poem...that quiet existence where the insides seeth and the outside is frozen water. Nicely done.
