THE ANGEL TREE

THE ANGEL TREE

A Poem by R J Askew
"

When the chips are down I'd rather be with the angelic forces of nature then the postmodern dwaves and elves of realism-cynicism-ismism.

"

Finding a broken angel in my mind,

I bear her into the heart of my oak,

In sleep there to hold her the winter through,

That her wings their vigour might recover,

Joy newborn hope her soul might discover,

That come the spring when my sap rises fast,

She is fulfilled in the nature of things,

Soaring herself through the boughs of my tree,

Flying through branches a-bursting with glee,

Each leaf a new angel, bursting out free.

This made me smile and had me looking up to the "glass angel with golden halo" that happens to be housed within a star upon my computer monitor. Angels... they exist and our friends are the angels that watch over us from afar and drop in to remind us that we are thought of, cared for and loved. Thanks for sharing your poem!! A fine write and the thoughts it inspired within me put a smile upon my face. A fine way to end/start a Friday.

The dogwoods in bloom often remind me of angel's wings - what a lovely thought! That they are all angels healed with the power of rebirth in Spring! Such a beautiful way to gaze upon a tree.

*hugs*

A sweet poem, it is the miracle, how we see that what is near to our heart. you let flourish the idea unconventional poetry. interesting concept here. Giving love to a broken soul without any self interest is adorable.

This is really sweet. I felt a tender tone within it. ^^ For some reason, some of its lines reminds me of the miracle of childbirth... and I have no idea why. This is a very beautiful poem! Interesting metaphors, I must say. :)

Ironically Yours.
