Raven eye spys all

CAW! CROAK!

 

A moment passes, just the one...

And lo, the first collection appears

Committee draws close to screen

'Is it...yes...'

'A villanelle'

'She's writing a villanelle'

'She's doing another'

'My god, not bad, not bad at all'

'Not bad? It's brilliant!'

CAW! CROAK!

 

'Now what?'

'More villanelles, spewing out of her'

'Amazing!'

'Is that all she can do?'

CAWWWWWWWW!

 

'Now what?'

'A, B, A, B rhyme''

'Quatrains of a sonnet...'

'Wow, that's beautiful!'

CAW! CROAK!

 

An hour passes

'No end to it'

'How many's she written?'

'Thousands...thousands...'

'Shall we turn her off now?'

 

The poetry computer is turned off

Yet, deep, DEEP, down inside its circuitry

Continues writing

Until it has written

Every...thing...

 

The Committee of Ten studies the print outs over dinner

'Fantastical!'

'Wowsomemungus-tical!

'Shakespeare on speed'

'Look at this! 'The Many Wives Of Ware'

Next morning...they turn her on again...

'She's stopped'

'What's wrong?'

'Writer's block?'

The Committee scratches its collective posterior

 

'We can't possibly read all it's written'

'No one could'

'It outwritten every writer who has ever lived'

'In a day, less'

'What do we do now?'

'Coffee-n-muffins anyone?'

Which is how Sestina Regina suffered the fate of all poets

That of creating but to find herself alone

I recognise the fakeness of many committees using fake standards to assess many valueble works. Writers should not be pressed into writing in fashionable formats or urged to process work at an impossible speed. Writers should not be praised into heaven one day and thrown away the other.
Writers shouldn't be treated as computers to deliver at the deadline. One day you feel like writing, the other day you do not. That should be fine for any author, whether established or not.
The day to day truth in the writer's world is that many are judged by who's friends they are or not. Reading your latest entries here confirms my impression that this is a sad world wide phenomena!

The poet is more than the sum of its smarts. Art is not so easily dismissed except by idiots which do not matter anyway. lol This was an interesting take on the man vs machine theme but I think I will cast my lot in with the poets, after all, the pen is mightier than an Abram's tank. That's my opinion. Great write here.

I really liked it, When I saw it I thought 'another rambling from Ron' but it's really good. In fact there are some writers on here that spew out so much work they could be using Sestina Regina.

This reminds me of spam, well at least the spam I get.. At first glance utter nonsense however with an extra read and a good imaginations it shape shifts over and over and over again.. One insane paragraph could generate any number of writes.. And then this reminds me of the poets and writers whom save their work, save it and save it and then WHAM, post.. Pages and pages and pages of their work, as if anyone is going to read it all at once like that... I might read some work when I have to wait for sequels, you know, that I wonder what's next kind of thing.. And then this reminds me of the brilliant poets and writers who seem to churn out wonders ONE AFTER ANOTHER, oh the greenness behind my eyes oh the greenness. Any how I could go on and on and on.. I like it, your writes always seem to be a bit different, and almost always enjoyable.

Heh aaah contemporary...I know it well, it made my eyes flicker like the inside of your eyelids when you fall asleep with television as it switches to snow.

And surely even through the thoughts of a programme there would be a moment where she doth tangled herself in her own web Caw! I find this weavingly black and white with beautiful shadowy undertones.

What a wierd little piece this is, but brilliantly executed. I find this enlightening as well as endarkening. What inspired this? Whatever it was, great work. Going in my favorites.
