Joy Touching Words

Joy Touching Words

A Poem by R J Askew

The tips of your words are tight packed with nerves
Touching transmissions of musical light
You surge in hot pulses of language divine
To express your soul made meaningful fine
You pour from the deeps of your ink well of joys
To soar in the keeps of creation that buoys
You feel in my feeling your music is felt
That talents to you by life have been dealt
Touching creations of gentle insight
The tips of your words make love-versing curves

What superb meter! You've always written traditionally - as far as I know, and in this are still amongst the best locally. Your phrasing in parts is academic - holds the moment but with regard to form, '.. You pour from the deeps of your ink well of joys .. .. To soar in the keeps of creation that buoys.. ' I truly appreciate this poem,. thank you so much for reminding me of the past masters.

Curious how I absolutely enjoy reading the classics, yet rarely write as such.

Elegance in poetry is alive and well. T

Beautiful as well, my dear poet!

It's 19th Century work, and I mean that as a compliment--the ease of the meter and rhyme...well, that's a throwback to a day when those were not objects of scorn. Virtuoso stuff, indeed.
