Rubix Revelation

Rubix Revelation

A Poem by Hannah Erickson

Small squares arrange themselves to make small cubes.

Small cubes come together to make and even larger cube-

A rubix cube.

The squares spin and twirl in methodical motion

Attempting to align their colors to make a face,

But the cube is so much more than six faces

Just as a human is more than a face.

We have personality, knowledge, experiences-

All required to create the whole.

We are complex creatures – ever-changing.

Many will come along and try to solve us.

Some will pick us apart hoping to find a shortcut to our souls-

Our true selves,

But these are the ones that fail.

The only way to truly solve such a puzzle is to take your time with it.

Become intimate with that which challenges you.

It is only then that you may understand the twists and turns-

Only then that you are able to call a person “friend”.

Wow, never thought of things like that... its amazing how societies try to figure out other societies such as the Romanies, as if they were but Rubics cubes... and then perpetrate the holocaust...

a really good poem. i've never really thought about equating people as rubix cubes but you brought up a lot of really good points. we can't be shortcuts. we require intimacy, time, and consideration.

true talent can string together abstracts to create new beautiful meaning. you've done so and you make it appear effortless to do so.

That was a great poem Cass, and you just reminded me about how, so far, I have failed utterly to finish one of the BLOODY rebix cubes! (seriously though, great poem)
