Day Before InterviewsA Poem by R.E.K.Garden of a girlSearch for A little hint of Moisture in this Dry dry soil Empty of Growth and love Barren and unfruitful Dig deeper For I am certain I can bring forth A stream of water So delicious and so sweet From within this earth Beneath all her suffering And I will tend To this earth Like she is a vineyard Ripe and overflowing With cane tipped wine And tender produce And stories of couples meeting In her groves And I will promise this earth That she will not be run over By the many birds who peck By the many ruffians not much older Than this earth herself And I vow to her That I will not stop digging Until she is irrigated Until in the morning she appears Just as lush and pruned Just as healthy and in bloom If not more Than all the other properties Than all the other girls I kiss this dirt Embrace this earth Rejoice in her lack-of In her empty For it is signal of what's to come Of what polar opposite she will bring forward Although, I am not without fear As I write these words I'm quivering But I will not let that Stop me now She is fertile, She will grow.
