Here We Go Again

Here We Go Again

A Poem by R.E.K.

Hits me like a locomotive
Something jolts like
"Oh,"
And it's just remembering
Dear,
It's just
Remembering
Suddenly
Remembering

Paves me over
Dizzying bulldozer
It makes
      My mouth
                  Go dry
I am swallowed by
Memories
And my mind is orbiting the earth
Seeing the stars...
I am
Frozen
Gazing about

Who you are

Who you are

And who
I know you're going to be

You know how the light
Pools in from the window
And plays shamelessly
With all the glass in a room?
Leaves it's fingerprints all over the chandelier?
Trails across the tables and the chairs?

To me
That's the way you illuminate
Unable to leave someone
Untouched by your you-ness
Intangibly

And oddly,
I'm here wondering

Why the strings of your voice
Are always slung over my shoulder?
Why the thought of your mind
Makes me feel bolder
And yet more feeble..
Frail,

I'm at the bottom of a hill
Everything is spinning
Everything is still and pale
And I'm whispering

"G-d,
Please,
Help him...

Oh G-d,
Please..."

And I wonder if someday,
You'll feel Him,
In some way,
I wonder if I'm making any sense
Anyway.
