Something Else Entirely

Something Else Entirely

A Poem by R.E.K.
"

you are just...

"
Dear Joseph,
I thought you don't like to listen to music,
And yet there you are,
The most adorable
Bobble head
I've ever seen.

Joseph,
I thought you curse,
I thought you don't care about
What comes out of your mouth,
And yet there you are,
Trying to train your precious mind
What it means to be "Family Friendly",
I call this
Training yourself
What it means to be holy,
To set limits on what you should
And should not do with your body, mind,
To set your soul apart
From all the derogatory, meaningless,
You become wiser, more kind.

So what is this?
Tell me please Joseph,
What is this beautiful metamorphosis
That I see taking place...
Inside of your knee-deep eyes
Inside of your I'm-growing face?

Joseph,
I thought you don't sleep
I thought that it doesn't really matter
When you go to bed,
Because you'll never close your eyes
In peace anyway...
And yet there you are,
Saying
"Yeah, I'm probably going to go to bed soon...
Darling,
I am in awe of
How much it seems to
Matter to you...
Do you finally realize
What I always knew
About all your limitless value?

Joseph,
My day was
Absolutely crazy
But
I cannot stop smiling
Because you've shown me today
That all my tear,
My prayers,
The pain,
The pleading with G-d,
It's not in vain.

It's not in vain.

Joseph,
I thought you would run out of patience,
I thought you'd go back to that violent game,
I thought you'd be influenced by all that's around you...

But I'm SO wrong,
And I'm happy that way.

My beloved
Joseph,
I'm so incredibly proud of you.
You are just
 Something else
Entirely.

P.S. I love you.

Love,
Ellie
