These Pieces Of Us

These Pieces Of Us

A Poem by R.E.K.
"

We fail to live in the moment, to build and capture our essence that is waiting to be nurtured and bloom...

"
String our words as beads
On this necklace we create
Around our necks
Tangles us,
Protected by
 A sheen of colors
Gather from individual
Into conforming reality

We delve deep into each other's eyes
See pieces of ourselves
We fail to recognize
We fail to recognize
Soft embers encounter
A stockpile of fails
We are no longer remembering
The oceanic depths
Of our corresponding inhales
These pieces of us
They float away
Driftwood shaved from
Magnificant creatures
With arched metal bellies
And silver billowing sails

We fail
To recreate these
Pieces of us
At the end of the day
When our hearts cradle the dust
The shimmer of the remnants
Flecks gold in our minds
But we cannot catch these pieces
Lost are the places, times
Where all of the pieces of us
Dwell, reside
