EXPECTATIONS

EXPECTATIONS

A Poem by Emmjosef
"

This poem is about some thoughts I have on an everyday basis, regarding my body, and mind

"

I’d like to be in shape,

But the work doesn’t interest me.

I’d like to change the world behind my nape,

But my liver says, “You’re not an ‘I’. You’re a ‘we’”.

I’d like to be an Avenger,

But instead to feel okay, I compare myself to my cat.

I’d like to let go of my title as an invisible revenger,

But my red hair resembles Nat’s.

It seems I’m still glued to the feathers of a naked duck,

And I still can’t see reality.

Every day I just feel so drawn out of luck,

And so, I drown once again in fantasy.

Laughs brought by the naïve and pure,

And the one’s which gives me hope the most.

Are a treasure I don’t believe in getting anymore,

‘Cause I don’t feel like I can get them toast.
