The joyrides persuit of happiness.

The joyrides persuit of happiness.

A Poem by Onlyme

There is a junction of a road
not far from where i live.
Where a local park is across the road
from a section of houses.

It has a bad reputation
as an awful junction
for accidents.

But one accident that happened
was with a young carefree teenager
who stole a motorbike and was
riding it crazily around the area
and eventually, the police chased
him in their cop car.

The young lad got cocky and more
brave and daft in his dares
towards the pursuing police car
behind him.
And ended up coming off
his stolen motorbike.
And ultimately died due
to his serious injuries.

On this fencing at the local park
a plague is placed for this teenager
who died.
And on the special occasion for his
birthday and Christmas Time
Balls and gifts are left.

But sadly even though
ten years have gone.
And the balloons and gifts are still left
It will never bring him back
to life.

All this tragedy did was
youthful cockiness and smart a*s
attitude caused was an undue death
and suffer for someone get his
a motorbike was stolen
and this young lads death
at trying to outwit policemen
doing their job.
Pursuing a stolen vehicle.

So many young people today make foolish mistakes a sad tale and unfortunately not a solitary one. Many don't seem to take into account the possible tragic consequences of their actions. In this case only the young lad was killed, but what about the effects on his family and friends. I would imagine that even the police mus feel a certain degree of regret. A good write.

Take care - Dave

unfortunately so many youths of today feel entitled...and not responsible for their actions...but they do own it...and at times, fatally.
a moving write...i read the one word as Plaque..rather than plague...
but this is a strong statement and so pertinent to the times.
