Turn the other cheek, and you think I go away. No I die!

Turn the other cheek, and you think I go away. No I die!

A Poem by Onlyme

You turned the other cheek
walking on past.

Sometimes sniggering
 or say cruel loud jib
out loud aimed ultimately
at me.

Hope you're happy
I died
last night
at that very same
bus stop
in England.
You passed me by.

Yes, i was a homeless person.
I was also a human being
Worthy of love
compassion and warmth.

Not everyone who is
homeless
is a con person
going by the national newspapers
here in England.

But sadly a proper homeless
the person who is actually in real need
and having a major crisis in their life.

And don't forget being homeless
can happen
to anyone
at any time.

You're only
one paycheque
away from it
for most folk.

ie being homeless

Hey Dawn I am so glad you wrote these words, it is so true.. no one ever sets out in life to become homeless and yes, it can happen to any one of us.... I spent 6 months on the streets when I was still a student and later spent a considerable part of my own working career working with homeless people.. Often misunderstood, unloved and undervalued .. many are in fact smashing individuals..... Neville
