They would not be saying that if that was them.

They would not be saying that if that was them.

A Poem by Onlyme
"

in their shoes.

"
On the ledge
on the wrong side
of the motorway bridge
ready to jump.

The folk behind you are screaming
and shocked and crying.
Some try to grab you.
And hold you tight.

Folk below are stopping
their cars and watching
and looking up.
Some are even shouting
JUMP JUMP.
At the police cordon below.

Someone is in deep pain,
broken and in turmoil.

And nasty words like that
don't help.

This makes me think how lovely it would be to put those folks in the lives of the ones in so much pain. just for a day... what amazing things would happen if we could do that! imagine all of the hate we could be rid of! All of the selfishness we could be spared and the gross entitlement we could be banish! Mass callousness vaccinations like we cured mankind from polio what a grand world we would have. Very nice words Dear Dawn :)

We do seem to live in an intolerant society now.
They're all in a great rush too nowhere. But if someone stops them getting there, especially some poor soul in pain, then you can just hear the venom coming out. Sad times indeed.

nasty words never do help in any situation,
This is a very well written write.

This is a good observation, a dual perspective on the pain of others and those who have no compassion for such pain.
Unfortunately the world is filled with heartless people.
But I'd like to focus on and encourage the good natured people of the world to make efforts to reach out to others whether through a genuine smile, a friendly handshake, a pat on the back in praise or friendship.

I would advise all humans to never contemplate suicide though life circumstances be tough. Life is a precious gift. Out of a million sperm you were the chosen one.
Take time out to breathe and relax and reflect, and soon you'd find that the insurmountable mountain of yesterday was only a small hill magnified in your tears-blurred sight.

Well done!

It always amazes me of the callous nature of some people when observing the pain of others. They are altogether immune and feel nothing. You brought me dramatic imagery with this write Dawn. Well done.

Riveting piece... drew me in, tied my stomach in knots.... well done!
I've never been able to understand people's morbid sense of curiosity (as jacob erin-cilberto aptly said below ).

Hi Sharonlee, bless you Sharonlee for your thoughts. Dawn.
some people just have such a morbid sense of curiosity...
and just like thrills, even at the expense of others.
