You can tell when summer is on the horizon.

You can tell when summer is on the horizon.

A Poem by Onlyme

The sun is shining,
the air is fresh
and warm
with a hint
of a nice breeze.

Everyone around
is upbeat and smiling.
As young couples are out with
their children.
 Taking them
to the local park to play
on the swings and chute.
And with a football
too with daddy.

A teenage boy and girl
with a cute dog in tow.
Hand in hand
chatting away
ten to the dozen
to each other
and the dogs tail
is wagging behind them.

Everyone in cars,
vans and the local buses and
taxis.
Have gotten their windows
down and open.
With different types of
music is blasting
from certain vehicles
as they pass by.

As an old lady sits
at the bus stop chatting to a
teenage girl
about how beautiful today is.
And the girl is sharing her
bag of crisps with her as they chat.

Quite a few neighbours are out
doing their gardens.
Making them perfect
for the summer weather.

Cutting grass, hedging trimming
and even the odd hint of a
barbecue is in the air.

Mm making me peckish now.

That last line made me smile. On your side of the world as well as mine, the sunshine and warmer temperatures coaxes life of all manner to escape cocoons and go out into the fresh, nurturing environment. A wonderfully uplifting poem, my friend.

People are definitely nicer to each other in the summer season.
I think in the winter you sort of grunt to each other.
but we are social animals, so smiling faces make smiling faces.
In saying that, it's bloody drab outside. lol

Beautiful poem with a picturesque description of a park. You have described every detail that of a park. Simple and simply wonderful poem, loved it Dawn!😃😃

Dawn - You've managed to highlight it all! The picture you paint of summer is grand in its scope. All the things I imagine we all love about the summer. I'm so looking forward to it too - as I'm sure you are.
Thank you for the promise of things to come.

Take care - Dave
