Reliving The old days.

Reliving The old days.

A Poem by Onlyme

Two old men coming out of the local pub
both are drunk and arguing.
Staggering all over the place
And trying to punch each other
with missed punch swings at each other.

One falls on his a*s.
And the other helps him up.

They start again swinging arms
at each other.
Then give up.

And stagger away walking arm in arm
down the road together
chatting and laughing and having a
blast.

I chuckled and thought how strange.

Later on in another day.
I came across the owner of the pub.
Who told me they were great local heroes
in their heyday and top champs.
And used to compete against each
other on a regular basis when young.

And even to this very day.
They are great mates
and relive the old days.

Yes I like this dawn a good poem about two old men who remained friends for life

This poem is truthful and nostalgic; yet slightly melancholic when thinking how the new age, with its emphasis on materialism, has affected the simplicity and affectionate nature of friendship.
But, of course, hope is not lost. Simply be the friend you'd like to see in others.

Nice one friend. Fun and interesting to read at the same time. Great :)

I could picture this Dawn and it had me smiling. Buddies through thick and thin. Doing it their way.

funny stuff alright.
There was an incident in a nursing home a short while ago with two elderly ladies, 68 yr. and 78yr. in a punchup at a rest home over seats at a bingo game.
Police had to be called!
All-time clazy
Good to hear kitty won't be hanging from some trophy wall.

and being able to laugh at themselves and each other is the best drink out of all of it...the camaraderie
even as foes...healthy...we need more of it...
