For every Little Soul, That has Passed Due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

For every Little Soul, That has Passed Due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

A Poem by Onlyme

She was put into my arms
a small bundle of purity
and beauty.
Her eyes were green like mine
and her beauty
radiated inside
my heart and soul.

And my spirit lifted
when I gave
birth to her.

Her ten fingers
and ten toes.
And a little tuff
of blond hair
we could see.

She had that newborn
scent about her.
And was a happy little soul.
Gurgling and giggling.
And cooing as the pair of us
like lovebirds  adoringly
gazing down at her.

She was our present from God.
And with such pride and emotions
flooded our being.
From tears of overwhelming happiness
to even fear, we couldn't look after her
properly as we where new parents.
It's funny how your mind works.
And if you let fear
run wild it will
inside your head.

But we proved to ourselves we were
indeed great parents.
And spoiled our lovely daughter
each and every new day.

Until one morning we woke up.
And she had passed in her crib.

We were heartbroken and devastated
to say the least.

We found out it was called "Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome." And she was only 5 months old.

And there was nothing we could have done to
protect her or save her.
It just tragically happened.
As everyone knew she was well cared
for and loved beyond words.

To every little soul who has passed due to
S.i.D.S. for short.

You are always with us and never truly gone.
RIP SWEETHEARTS. loved and missed beyond words
and emotions.

Can only echo Jacob on this.
There have been countless theories on sudden infant death syndrome. But as a parent at that moment in time, it can only be why. We all accept death at some point in our lives. But kids you can never accept leaving you. A really tough poem, Dawn. I hope the comments can console you in some way, maybe help others too. Brave to write it to.

My cousin lost her beautiful, healthy baby boy .... She was a figure of sorrow, tears ran uncontrollably from her eyes, I couldn't bring myself to look at her without crying, I still feel her pain even now. you have described that ache vividly, dear Dawn.

this is so movingly sad...gut wrenching....kids are meant to outlive their parents, not the other way...and we have to question...why does this happen? why an innocent?
strong write, Dawn.

Thank you Jacob. I agree exactly children should always outlive their parents. Thank again. Dawn.
