Chilly Balls & Cold Feet... No Thanks..

Chilly Balls & Cold Feet... No Thanks..

A Poem by Onlyme

Well the snow has come
and the early dark nights
don't make it easy to drive
on black ice.

Let alone even
during daylight either.

You're like a ballet dancer skating
on thin ice. As you tiptoe on
four wheels up the road slowly
does it.
Or else you skid the car
and f**k you and it up.

And God helps you if
you're elderly
or infirm.
Needing some shopping.
And have no transport
to get you to your destination.

So you rely on public transport
or even a taxi.
And getting from your front door
to the bus stop or to the end of the garden
for the taxi.
Without falling on your butt
you're doing a great job.
Let alone without
breaking any bones at that.

Maybe I am being cynical
as well as a drama queen.

But the cold weather,
snow and ice. Is not much fun.

When you're trying to drive to work,
In the rush hour.

And someone has had an accident
or broken down.
And the lanes are backing up.
And you have nowhere to go.
Stuck in traffic. And late for work.
And everyone is pissed off and annoyed.

Or else you try to get a taxi.
And all are pre-booked and
none left for poor old you.

To get you to your work
on time. And if you trot late.
into work, your boss has
a moan, as your
way late.

No sympathy or I understand
you had to come
in through a snowstorm.

Bah humbug.

I hate the snow and the cold
and ice. I am too old and moany
now, to appreciate the beauty in
it any more. And the fun of
building snowmen and throwing
snowballs. LOL
