Nightshift Bus Driver.

Hoping on the night bus

his regulars are nightshift workers

going and come back

from their jobs.

Or late Office workers

working late in the City

until the wee small hours

to impress the big boss

with their big workloads.

Also the clubs and late pubbers lot
returning home from a great night

out. Partying to the little

hours. Drunk and happy.

So grabbing the late bus

to get a cheap ride

home.

He is a nice guy, friendly chatty

and handsome. He is married and

has got a young child. And works hard

to provide for them. With these

crazy hours.

He has done this job a few years now.

And his regulars like him a lot. Even at

Christmas time. They contribute towards

a gift together to buy him a bottle of

whisky or a gift certificate to take his

wife and daughter out for a nice meal.

The reason they like him. It also if they are

a little late from leaving work. He waits for

them at their stop for an extra five minutes

or so they can catch his bus home.

Loved it! People often forget to thank those who actually don't have big part in their lives but play an important role just like the late night bus driver. This piece would surely remind people to thank such people in their lives. The late night bus driver plays a crucial role of dropping us safely at our home at late hours. Very nice poem about the life of a typical worker. I work late for my job and get unpaid overtime. I’m forced to go to drinking parties with my boss too.

JungLee, that is sad to hear. Sounds like your boss is taking advantage of you. It would be okay if he let you go to the drinking parties to have a good time. But not to serve others.

Usually here in South Korea and Japan does the same where you can’t really refuse to go out drinking with your boss.
