Helianthus ...Sunflower

Helianthus ...Sunflower

A Poem by Onlyme

sunflower

"

The beauty of the sunflower
so tall and strong
yet dominant.
With it's long
flowing green leaves
and stocky stem
to hold him up.
surveying the land around.
His happy yellow face
so big and round and gleeful.
And in the middle of her face.
Sits the seeds to sow and spread.

As the colour does change
They fall and flutter
to the ground and upon
the soil they will grow.
As too when the bees to
come and collect the pollen
from its head in the summertime.
In a field of buff sunflowers.
As the gentle breeze does blow.
I catch a glimpse of a rabbit burrowing
in the ground close by to me.
As a blackbird flies above my head.
I hear the gentle running of the stream
close to said farm's field.
I also hear the mooing of
the odd cow calling out.
And the sheep baaing in
another farmyard
next door to them.
I whiff a pong of smell stuff
lingering in the air.
And smile to myself.
Thinking it's time to go
home and get a nice hot brew
of a cup of tea and a biscuit or two
and chill indoors for awhile.
