Tribute To Mother & Fathers.. Not an easy Job....

Tribute To Mother & Fathers.. Not an easy Job....

A Poem by Onlyme

A father is to help,
support, love
and protect you.
let alone
make you feel secure.

As well as
they are great
at fixing things,
driving you about
the place.
Like a  cheap taxi drive.

And to chase away
none suitable suitors
in his eyes
for his sons
or daughters.

Some are even
great cooks, gardeners,
builders, plumbers,
car mechanics, the list
is endless of jobs they can do.

They wipe away your tears,
cuddle you. Congratulate you.
And make you feel wanted
and needed.
Just some of the
great qualities of dads.

A mother nurtures you.
Feeds, clothes and protects you.
(As does a dad too of course.)
And gives you a roof over your
head until your old enough to leave.

Mums look out for you.
Love you without limits.
And run
around after you.
When you leave
your room a mess.

Both parents are also the
bank of mum and dad
at times to their kids.

Just a little example
of some great parents
out there.

Sadly not everyone
is lucky in this world.
To have one or both great
parents.
But they do exist.

Just a little tribute
to Both Great Parents.
In general.

As mine in general were
terribly bad at that job.
But they did try at times.

None of us are perfect.
Not even parents
In general
We all have flaws.

And being a parent
does not come with
a handbook.
With the rules written
down with the
dos and don't
in it.

Mothers & Fathers
learn as you as they
go on with their children.

So give them a break.
As one day you will
be a parent too.
And see for yourself
How hard it really is.

Dawn - this is so insightful. Its not very often that the parents get the praise they deserve. Some, as you point out don't deserve any or very little. It would be great if when that little bundle of joy comes home they'd also come with an owners handbook. Just today I had a phone call from our oldest in N.C. in essence she was calling to, once again, thank her mother for all she had taught her. Don't get me wrong, She also told me that she loved me. BUT I know there is always that very special bond between my girls and their mother.

Take care - Dave
