The Christmas Fifty Year Dare.

The Christmas Fifty Year Dare.

A Poem by Onlyme

My mother bought my father
some red leather boxer shorts
for his Christmas Present.
It basically was a dare.

And my father got my mother
a set of handcuffs. The proper
metal kind with a key.

They have been married for fifty
years. And met when they
were both eighteen years of age.

It was always a long-running joke
between them.
That if they ever married.
And managed to make
fifty years together.
They would each
have a dare.

His was to wear
the red leather boxers
all day long on
Christmas Day
of that said year.

And She had to get
handcuffed all day
with her hands
in front of her.

And their children
and grandchildren would
cook the family meal for
that said day.

Well, you can imagine the
uproar in that house this
said day.

No one actually thought they
would do said dare.

But they did.
At least for a few hours.
