I think both capitalism and religion have had their chances- and let's be honest, they have both made a real pig's ear of things.
Humanity needs a huge sea-change in thought- we simply cannot get by on superstition and greed anymore..
Good thoughts you are having here!
All the best

"Population" seems to be the elephant in the room,- this has a huge bearing on our current state of affairs- but it seems no-one is going to get their hands dirty with that one!
The plight of flora and fauna that I have witnessed in the UK over the last 40 years has been extraordinary, and desperately sad.
I am into my birds and have been fortunate enough to see some wonderful species- but it saddens me to think that future generations may not be so lucky.
Birds are not just brilliant things with wings, they are also an important pointer into how the eco system is faring- and the signs are really not good...That said, there are some pretty marvelous people out there trying to do their bit and while these folk are fighting for the cause, there is still a bit of hope for us all.
Not through religion, not through capitalism, but to a return to an understanding that the planet is our home and that we need to care for that which is vital to our very existence.
I will get off my soap- box now!
Thank you Dawn, and all the best to you
A more curious question would be "What is god like?".
God was born when the first spark of curiosity originated in the primitive man's head. The fear for the unknown, birth and death and all the wonderful things in the universe the human mind couldn't digest. One can approach the solution in two ways. By trying to understand what's going on, or by admitting that all these are beyond the capabilities of the human mind. That is why, ironically, science and religion are two answers to the same question.

Hi Dawn,
Nicely done. It is good to contemplate God. Life is a struggle with or without God. It is much easier with Him. Atheism does not sound like much fun. Their headstones should read, "Here lies an atheist, all dressed up and nowhere to go.
It is better to have something to look forward to. Have a nice night. Earl

The term God has been used parrot fashion by every generation for around 600 years. It originates from Luther when he set forth to translate the scriptures from Hebrew and Greek into the German vernacular. Luther hated the Jews and didn't want any Hebrew words in his translation.
In place of the Hebrew word that was given by the creator as a designated title Luther decided to use a Germanic tribal word that was used as a pronoun for their idols. That word was Gott.
The English Bible translator Tyndale spent a year in Luther's company and for some reason took up the English transliteration of the German word Gott and devised God.
The correct transliteration from Hebrew to English is Elohim or El and Elohim has a true meaning that is Almighty or All-Powerful. So when someone would say there is no Elohim they would, in fact, be saying that there is no power and that would make them sound and look stupid.
Thank you Huw, that was really interesting to read and take on board.

I was and am curious about Elohim.

An interesting question you pose Dawn. I wonder. Many a war has been fought because of religion, and one person's God being thought superior to another's. I doubt that we will ever find out. But even before religion, there would have been tribal warfare. Always something to fight over regretfully.
