Sex & Shagging Is Not Real Love.

Sex & Shagging Is Not Real Love.

A Poem by Onlyme
"

Lyn had a point. So trying to be better. As I guess it does matter in general. And I am but human too :)

"
It's so ironic how many people
confuse sex and f*****g,
for the real meaningful love.

When sex and intercourse,
is just a very small part of loving someone.

It's openness and honesty, trust
as well as being truthful.
Towards each other.
Deep affection for that
special one you really care deeply about.

Commitment, loyalty, decency and respect.

Being compasionate.
Sharing and so much more besides.

To loving someone completely with an
open heart, mind, spirit and soul.

That means more than just
a quick moment in time for
those few minutes above.

It's being with them on good days
and more so bad days
is more to the point.

When things
are not all rosy and sweet,
perfect in general between you both
that means more than anything that
just a quick shot on the swings
long-term for most humans deep down.

Many of your opinions are interesting, honest, and open. However, I do feel that this is more of a blog, or opinion piece. Interesting and truthful, and worthy of reading, yes, but formatting in and of itself does not necessarily make poetry. Take that as you wish, and if you are offended by these comments feel free to delete.

First-off, Dawn,
Let me compliment you on a well-structured and well-spoken Poetic Prose composition, and that I respect your right to express your ideas, ideals, philosophies, and otherwise concerning sex, love, sexual love, and love without sex, etc; as you best see fit.
I very much like the smooth evenness of flow from line to line, the line-break timing, and clarity of expression throughout.
In this, often controversial, topic I choose no side, but that of my own, however coincidental or ironic it may be with any other's.
After reading through your work, in how you define "real" love, the thought came to mind that trying to separate sex from real love is like mental masturbation … either can be a "stand alone" enthrallment or a "combined sex and real love enthrallment" … both kinds legitimate and real in their own right.
And, this got me thinking: With an almost unlimited array of differing kinds of love(s) in the world, why would it be sensible to try and compare it/them (in general) with sex between two humans.
With certainty, it's possible to legitimately love someone and have sex with them without all the obligatory oaths, vows, and commitments of a lifetime's obligation. Whomever wrote that book of love rules was definitely no expert on love between two human beings.
Sex and love, on an elevated, enthralling level, with a particular individual, can be the highest, deepest, most phenomenal expression of purest love there is, and it stands alone, without all the other comparisons and combinations of love inferences, just as any kind or degree of love stands alone, on its own accord, in its own realm, according to its own values, without comparison to any other, and each "almost unlimited" kind of love is as valid as any other … although, from personal, witnessed, and read about experiences, I will admit that certain ingredients, segments, parcels, etc; from many kinds of loves between human beings gathered and blended together can make for some of the hottest, most heavenly, amazing sex there is.
Conversely, without sex, "many, but not all", of the other kinds of love between two humans will be rather blasé, to say the least. To me, an exception to this would be the examples of love(s) shared between two loving humans where the act of sex is not possible or any longer enjoyable, etc; for whatever reason(s).
In my discernment, trying to assert that any part of love, combined with or without sex, makes it valid or invalid seems purely nonsensical … like chasing one's proverbial, philosophical tail.

Just my 2¢, and that is probably about what it's worth to most of those whom might read and understand/misunderstand me … LOL!

Thank you Dawn, for sharing your take on sex and love … I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience of reading and commenting on your poem … as ever! ⁓ Richard : )
