Are we sheep?

Are we like sheep,

waiting to be herded,

and lead to the promised land?

But a few wild sheep, always

break free and run wild.

And do their own thing.

And is the promised land.

Actually what you make of it

here on earth. As no promised land

actually exist in reality or the afterlife?

Curious and pondering these questions.

Dear Dawn. We are surrounded by the sheep. Don't read, don't look where they are going and allow the media to control their thoughts. Few free-minds. I try to teach and show. The sheep become well trained and they stay on the path. Thank you for sharing your amazing words and thoughts.

I broke free and ran, and still run today. It's in my nature, cadges aren't for this sheep.
I agree with your thought, the promised land is what you make it. It's right here if you want it to be.
I guess it's in your head isn't it?
The promised land, just might be, the promise of the freedom in one's own mind.
That's my opinion, at least.
My other opinion is that this is a wonderfully short poem. Like one of those tiny firecrackers that makes a really loud noise.

I smile while I read this. It reminds me of an alternative universe series, the Ring of Fires. If I were to try to explain, I would need to rewrite the entire series, and there were already multiple writers. Brillo, a ram, becomes a central figure.

Well, if the Lord is our shepherd, I guess that makes us sheep.Whoever doesn't want to be one of His sheep, just walk away! There are no tethers, no fences or cages.
I consider myself one of Jesus' sheep, and is that such a bad thing? Think about it
The important point is not that we are just like sheep, but that we have a wonderful Shepherd. That was David’s thought on Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd.” It was a boast. “Look at who my shepherd is!"
As a shepherd himself, David knew that the quality of life for any sheep depends upon the kind of shepherd who takes care of it.
And Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is a great shepherd. He sacrifices for His sheep: He literally gave His life for us. He knows His sheep: He knows us each individually, intimately, and completely—and loves us anyway! He unites His sheep: To the Good Shepherd, race, sex, ethnicity and nationality are all unimportant. We are all His flock. He lives for His sheep: He died, but He rose again, and He will never abandon us.
As for the promised land, I certainly believe it exists. I will follow the Shepherd where he leads. Any who do so can never go wrong, for the Lord will never lead us astray.

Angel, I am on about the bigger picture inlife, from religions, governments, corporations, mind control, social media, etc etc the big wheels in power.

Religion is used by businessmen at times to rake money and power from the masses. That is just part of what I was on about.

I realize that, but I know enough to reject the vainglorious preaching of the prosperity gospel, and do not, nor do I recommend, lining the pockets of evil, money grubbing televangelists with their 'SEED MINISTRY".These are the sort of people whom Jesus drove out of His father's temple in the only loss of temper ever attributed to Him. How bad is such behaviour, if it can even make JESUS lose it? I mean, holy crap!
He hates the fleecing of the masses still, and tells His followers in Matthew chapter seven (can't recall which verse, but you'll find it; it says to "

beware of wolves in sheeps' clothing."
I am fine with being a sheep, as long as I belong to the best Shepherd.

I agree with you angel, nothing wrong in believing in God at all. I just don't like the ones who prosper from someone face or beliefs that really sticks in my throat, and upsets me. Yeah I might have my own doubt of late with God, but I would never stop anyone from their own belief as said. I just was pondering on this topic for this poem. Along with governments and social medic and mighty powers like I said. Then this poem came along. Glad you understand me angel, just a topic to talk about and get people pondering on.
