Army Vet.

Army Vet.

A Poem by Onlyme

He died in an alleyway.
South Central L.A.
His dishevelled body
was only found by
a kid who kicks a ball up
the alley and went in to
retrieve it.
And stumbled upon him.
As he looked for his ball.
They did a check on his teeth.
And it turned out he was a local
man.
He was an Army Vet.
Who fought for his country
in many far of lands.

Came back home to dear old U.S.A.
And suffered from p.t.s.d and drank
too much alcohol.
Became homeless and ended up on the
streets. And that is where he died all
alone.
Until the little boy found him.
The Army Vets gave him a proper funeral
with guns salutes to pay their respects
to him for what he did for this great land.
