Old Is Best....

Old Is Best....

A Poem by Onlyme

In every country, you will see fancy
new buildings. With glass, metal,
wood, concrete.
All exotic designs and styles.
From large to small and in-between.

But to me. I love the ones that have
stood the test of time.

The old-fashioned ones with
character and flare.
That is weather-beaten
and different from the rest.
They are majestic and regal
and at other times. Homely
and well worn. But practical
and built to last.

To me, they speak volumes.

i agree 100% ..the whisperings of an abandoned farm stead ..or the crumbling brick of brownstones ...the history of stoops that have heard 10 thousand stories left behind ... i really appreciate this tribute you pay to the old ... i hope you don't mind i am expanding it to include me too ;)))))))))) maybe your buildings are a metaphor and you mean me all along ..old man that i yam!

Not a great fan of new builds myself Dawn... s'pose that's why we love our old cottage built in 1610 so very much...... a very nice and well stated point of view, all wrapped up in a poem, just as it should be.... Neville

Oh Yes our first home was about 300 years old
Thick solid stone walls
Winter gale + inside warm
Hot summer sun = cool inside
Walls to thick to be heard next door

I so appreciate your words. I somehow also related it to women, as they age. The wrinkles, imperfections and scars only add dimensions to their beauty. A unique view packaged in a great choice of words!
