Cancer? Where the hell, did it come from... unheard off as a kid

Cancer? Where the hell, did it come from... unheard off as a kid

A Poem by Onlyme

Death really is a subject
no one like to talk about
until it happens?

It's the taboo subject
like Cancer.

We skirt around it.
or ignore it.

Even thou it's plastered
in every newspaper and
tv ads about it.

I remember as a kid
never even hearing
such a word "cancer"
in general. It was
unheard off. Now
it's so common.

We are no closer to
finding a  cure to
this evil curse
that affects anyone
any age, race, background
gender. You name it
it does not care.

It has destroyed and
taken so many.

And affected others
who have over come
it. Outwith the families
of the loved ones also.

That it runs riot inside
with emotional upset
stress, anxiety and
worse if the loved one
passes due to this
Cancer.

It's like Cancer is
a modern killer of
human beings
unheard off until
the last 30 years
or so to me. Before
that nothing.

It's like the modern
enviroment way of
life, junk food, alcohol
drugs, cigs, chemicals in
food we eat and such
like is messing our
human system and
genes up. So we can
not get rid of bad things
in our bodies.

Iam no smart a*s.
But it makes me
wonder what is
going on with
the Cancer is
it man made?

There's not a doubt in my mind that our epidemic of cancer is, if not man made, then heavily influenced by our oh so modern and convenient lifestyle.
Denmark is known to have the highest cancer rate per capita...also, very high rates of both drinking and smoking, two well known risk factors.
I doubt that the many chemicals and coloring agents in our food is blameless, either. All that stuff can't possibly be good for us.
As an aside, I am a breast cancer survivor; boobless, but alive!

Cancer, how much I hate that word. For every one I care about died because of that. Honestly I wish someday someone is going to find a cure for this bullshit sickness.
