Gobsmacked

What do you say?

When they tell you

they are constantly hurting

and in pain

and suffering yet

want to die to end it all?

What can you say to that?

How can you cheer

some up who you

love dearly and

want to  reassure them

all will be good,

and they will be

healthy and happy

again.

Yet they gobsmack you

in the face and heart.

With I want to die.

To end the pain they feel

and the suffering at present

and that is going to get

worse for them with

treatment.

How can you answer that,

and not get upset yourself

at their woes and feelings.

How can you fight a demon

like this......

cancer rips your heart out

and eats it up.

it's easy to say don't let

it win, but very hard to do.
