City Streets....

City Streets....

A Poem by Onlyme

The city streets beckon
I walk desolate paths
No one around.
Silences are echoing inside
my brain.
The odd neon sign
still lit and buzzing in time
to the stillness.
The odd nocturnal wildlife. I spot
from a fox to a badger even.
On my travels home early morning
4 am.
It is starting to drizzle with raindrops
up me. I pull my collar up around my
bare neck. And feel it's warm against
my skin.
The infrequent car or taxi passing
me by. As I am on foot. I walk briskly and
breath in the night musky air.
To fill my lungs
then exhale again with a splutter and
a little chuckle to myself.
I see pigeon eating some
stale pizza leftovers
from an overturned rubbish bin
They see me and flypasts.
I look up and see a full moon. And think.
Their is beauty and calmness in a peaceful
city even when everyone is asleep in bed.
Even thou, I think the exact same thing
myself tucked up inside my own warm cosy
bed real soon too.
